|Ice Maker Info|
The ice plant was started in early September with a tight timeline to get ready for the Shorty Jenkins Classic practices on Wenesday, September 16. The ice was painted Saturday September 12 by Steve Smith with John Wall.
The ice was in excellent condition for the Shorty Jenkins Classic, fast with lots of curl and the players were very pleased with the playing conditions.
At the start of every season the running surface of the rocks are textured with sandpaper to ensure good curl. With the assistance of John Wall the rocks were textured with a different method so that there is curl earlier, instead of all at the end. This is what the top players are used to.
At the start of this year the hacks will not be frozen in, but will be sitting freely on the two mounting pins. This will enable our ice maintenance team to scarpe aroud the hack pins. If you notice your hacks popping off easily please politely let the ice-maker know. It is extremely important to STOP ROCKS FROM HITTING THE HACKS as this could damage the mounting pins for the hacks. Skips and vice-skips please take note.
