 Jonathan King and Mitch Baker win Winterspiel

The 7th Annual Winter spiel co-sponsored by Pommier Jewellers and Cornwall Dental Arts (Dr. Steve Deneka) was held from January 24th to January 28th with 16 Men’s and 8 Ladies teams participating.

The championship Final had Jonathan King taking on John Wright with starting strong taking a 4 ender in the 1st. King bounced back with a 3 ender in the 2nd , stole a deuce in the 3rd. King continued to steal in ends 3 and 4 on way to a 9-5 win.

The “B” final had Alex MacDougall playing Neil McLean in a tight contest with MacDougall taking a deuce in the 1st end. McLean bounced back scoring a deuce of his own in the 2nd and stole two more in the 3rd end. MacDougall scored a deuce in end 4 to knot the score at 4 and stole a Single in the 5th. McLean scored two in the 6th end and stole a single in the 7th to go up by 2. MacDougall took a single in the 8th but it wasn’t enough as McLean won 7-6.

The “C” Final had Jim Lamouroux playing Ron Leroux with Leroux scoring a single in the 1st. Lamouroux took a deuce in the 2nd and stole singles in the 3rd and 4th ends to go up 4-1. Lamouroux scored a huge 5 ender in the 5th to go ahead 6-4. Leroux scored a single in the 6th, stole singles in the 7th and 8th ends to win 7-6.

The Men’s “D” final saw Denis Henderson play Charles Wert with Henderson scoring a deuce in the 1st. Wert bounced back taking a single in the 2nd, stealing a deuce in the 3rd and one more in the 4th to lead 4-2. Henderson bounced back with a deuce in the 5th, stealing 2 in the 6th and stealing 1 more in the 7th on way to a 7-4 win.

On the Ladies side Jen Baker played Mitch Baker in the “A” Final with the teams trading singles in the 1st two ends. Mitch took a single in the 3rd and stole 2 more in the 4th. Jen took 2 in the 5th and stole a single in the 6th to knot the score at 4. It was all Mitch Baker after the 6th with Mitch taking a deuce in the 7th and stealing a single in the 8th winning 7-4

The “B” final had Luce Lalonde taking on Jancie Sobering with the teams trading singles in the 1st 4 ends. It was all Sobering after that stealing singles in the 5th, 6th, and 7th end on way to a 5-2 win.

Ryan’s CNIB Bonspiel   CNIB Fundraiser

There will be two 4 end games, 1st draw at 1:30, second draw at 3:00

Between 1st & 2nd game, soup cheese & crackers will be served.

After last game Caesar salad, lasagna, roll & carrot cake, tea & coffee. 

Prizes for all participants.
