Cornwall Curling Club Announces $200,000 OTF Grant from Ontario Government
Cornwall, ON – On Wednesday, local MPP Nolan Quinn attended the Cornwall Curling Club’s Shorty Jenkins Bonspiel to announce that the Centre had been awarded a $200,000 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to help transform the club into a state-of-the-art facility for years to come.
"Whether its family events, recreational leagues or competitions, the Cornwall Curling Club is a pillar of community in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry," said Nolan Quinn, MPP of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry. "This investment from our government will allow the Club to expand and modernize their world-class facility so people from across Eastern Ontario can continue to gather, compete, and make incredible memories right in the heart of our community."
Over the next twelve months, the grant will help the Cornwall Curling Club modernize its space, extend the facility’s lifespan, and increase its impact within the community. These improvements will position the club to host world-class events and welcome curlers and guests from around the globe, all within an inclusive and vibrant environment.
“The Cornwall Curling Club is a hub for both competitive and social curling, and this investment ensures we can continue to welcome curlers of all ages and backgrounds for generations to come,” said Robert Mahon, Past President of the Cornwall Curling Club. “With the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we’re not only preserving our 20-year-old facility, but also creating new opportunities through strategic renovations, equipment upgrades, and outreach initiatives to attract new curlers and volunteers.”
The Cornwall Curling Club proudly serves not only the city of Cornwall, but also communities throughout Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Counties. As a regional hub, the club brings together curlers, families, and residents from across the region, hosting a wide range of social gatherings and events for everyone, not just curlers and curling events.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. Last year, OTF invested nearly $105M into 732 community projects and multi-sector partnerships.
